Design Approach

This project involved the thoughtful renovation and expansion of one of the oldest homes in Dundas, balancing modern functionality with the preservation of original architectural elements. A second level was added to the existing side addition, creating a two-storey accessory dwelling unit while reimagining the interior as a warm, comfortable family space. The design focused on transforming dated areas with updated finishes, improved lighting, and a layout that better reflects the homeowner’s lifestyle.

Care was also taken to restore the home’s exterior character, drawing inspiration from historical photographs to ensure it complemented the surrounding neighbourhood. Sustainable upgrades were incorporated throughout the renovation, including enhanced insulation, high-quality windows, and energy-efficient systems to improve long-term performance and reduce utility costs. The result is a carefully modernized home that respects its heritage while providing contemporary comfort and efficiency.
